Saving links is easy. Tagging them well isn’t.

Every time I saved a URL, I lost flow: think of tags, remember what I used before, worry about consistency. Tags drifted, duplicates grew, search suffered. I either skipped tags or stopped saving.

So I built a tiny Chrome extension: TL;DR. When you save, it suggests a small, consistent set of tags and syncs to Pinboard—so you keep your habits and lose the friction. Repo: tldr on GitHub.

My goals were simple:

  • Reduce decisions at save time.
  • Keep tags consistent across similar pages.
  • Keep Pinboard as the source of truth.
  • Let me choose how much context is used for suggestions.

What changed for me:

  • I tag more links with less effort.
  • Tags stabilized and search improved.
  • Saving no longer interrupts my reading.

If tagging has burned your energy too, give it a try. Follow the README to install, open the extension’s Options to set it up, and start saving: tldr on GitHub.
